Legal Aid of Western Missouri (LAWMO)
Peter Hoffman began with Legal Aid of Western Missouri (LAWMO) in 2010 as a law student and joined Legal Aid’s Economic Development Unit as an attorney in early 2013. In that capacity he represents dozens of urban Kansas City nonprofits, community organizations, and residents towards equitable redevelopment of blighted and abandoned properties. In 2015, he became the project director of LAWMO’s “Adopt-a-Neighborhood Project”, a Legal Services Corporation “Pro Bono Innovation Fund” recipient where urban neighborhoods are paired with local volunteer law firms. Originally from St. Louis, Peter relocated to Kansas City for law school where he received his JD/MPA from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. In 2016 his commentary, “Bringing Self-Empowered Revitalization to Distressed Neighborhoods” was published in the Journal of Affordable Housing and Community Development Law.
