James Peters, FAICP

Ethics Officer for APA/AICP

    Peters is the Ethics Officer for APA/AICP, having been appointed by the AICP Commission in May 2015. He has more than 30 years experience as a professional planner, including at: American Farmland Trust, Camiros Ltd., Chicago Department of Planning and Development, Indianapolis Department of Metropolitan Development, Landmarks Illinois, and Planning magazine.

    He is an adjunct instructor in the urban planning program at the University of Illinois at Chicago and in the historic preservation program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He has a master’s degree in preservation planning from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a bachelor’s degree in environmental design from Texas A&M University.

    He was elected a member of the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Certified Planners in 2014.
